The history of South Asia over the last two thousand years is replete with fascinating stories of women's creativity in the field of visual art, literature and performance. These stories have however been kept hidden in the writing of history. It is time to rewrite that history.
Hidden Stories! offers a diverse range of performances, talks and workshops for all ages to rediscover South Asian women's contribution in history, particularly in art, literature and performance featuring prominent British and South Asian artists and thinkers.
The project stems from The Indian Heroine in History, Art & Performance symposium, which received support and funding from Balliol College Interdisciplinary Institute at the University of Oxford and was presented at the Weston Library in March 2017.
The symposium convened performers, academics, writers, artists and audiences in a unique sold-out event.
